UTAH!

Good Morning one and all

Dinosaur National Monument for a couple of nights.

Beautiful campsite next to the river
Can’t see the river only hear it.

About 7 miles off the main highway so nice and quiet.
Dry camping, with nice flush toilets and water available.
On our way here we visited and drove along side
Flaming Gorge Reservoir

and stopped at the Dam Visitor Center

Definitely different scenery
Lots of elevation changes and 2 passes at or over 8000ft.

Second pass heading south from the dam we ran into snow
Some even sticking to the road.
Got a bit concerned so the truck got put into Auto All Wheel Drive.
Rig handed just fine as
I don’t think the wheel tracks were anything but wet.
The road to Vernal, UT

was an 8% grade for 7 miles with 10 hairpin curves.
Most of it was 30 mph
It was the most downhill braking we have done in our travels.
Transmission in second gear and still would not hold speed at 30.
Really wasn’t white knuckle since the speed limit was so low
And  never got the brakes hot so emergency stopping would have been no problem.
Truck performed well, still wish had a bit more cargo capacity.
Also think I broke the “glaze” off the trailer brakes as they work really well
With lots less controller feed.

Going to explore the Monument and surrounding area today.
Looks like great sightseeing weather
Will look for a dinosaur and get a photo.

Make your day great and feel good
