Arches!

Good morning all

We did Arches Nat Park yesterday
maybe only a small portion.
And the traffic, this is the line up for entry.

So much to see and so little time

and energy in a day.
For those of you who "really" know us
we did about 5-6 miles of hiking.

Pretty amazing for us.
We drove to the end of the park drive

couldn't find a parking place
so we turned West onto a gravel/dirt road.

Went back to Klondike Bluffs.
What a view of the La Sall Mountains

Had lunch then tried the 4X4 required road.
Didn't make it to far before we
found our comfortable long wheelbase
without extreme clearance
was not the vehicle for that road.
Backed up a couple of hundred feet and turned around.
Drove back out to the end of the park drive
found a parking place and sent Millie for a hike

She went up to Landscape arch and I stayed in the truck with the dogs.

Was perfect weather with the windows open and I napped.
When Millie got back with stories of harrowing events and extreme hiking
I left her with the dogs and enjoyed the same stroll.

Moving on and both getting tired.
We stopped at Skyline arch and did the short walk back to it's base.

Good example of the debris field left as they all deteriorate.
Up to Delicate arch viewpoints.

And up to the upper viewpoint.
It felt like it was about 2 miles up and 1/4 mile long.
Well, maybe not that steep, but did get my heart rate up a bit.

Nice view from there of the Arch and the valley we came out of.
As the sun was setting we left Delicate Arch viewpoint

and stopped at "Windows".

Sun was down and the Moon was up.
But twilight on the flats was wonderful.
From there we drove in the dark back to our Big White Box.

Salads, download images and bed.
Slept great.
Just a few more of the day.

We have a couple of ideas for today
and will surprise you tomorrow of our escapades.

Make today a great day.
Tom and Millie
