Death Valley

Good morning!
Guess what our destination was yesterday?
OK, the title gave it away.
Picked up Steve and Peggy
and headed for Death Valley and Badwater Basin
Beautiful day with some light high clouds
Chilly and no wind, great day to sight see.

Drove through Death Valley Junction
really not much there
and into DVNP
Into Furnace Creek and the visitor center.
Then off to Badwater Basin
Along that road, the desert was blooming

Saw four plants blooming and
I have no idea what they are, besides pretty.

Yellow was dominate and looked a lot like a daisy
Purple and white were the others
not nearly as many, but here and there among the yellow.
Our primary destination.

From the lake bed looking at the cliff
See the little white sign near the top of the photo?
It's the sign that indicates Sea Level

Out on the lake bed.

Then on to Devil's Golf Course
Some of the salt formations at Devil's Golf Course

This is one of the holes!
Cousin Steve
and his lovely bride Peggy.
When we finished playing at the golf course
took the Artist Point Drive
the colors were wonderful even in the mid day sun.

Back to The Inn at Furnace Creek
and missed lunch here as the dining room closed 20 minutes before we arrived
Into Furnace Creek for lunch
at the only place open with in 25 miles.
It was excellent!

Lunch completed we headed for Dante's Viewpoint
Always remember when the sign says
No vehicles longer than 25' and NO trailers
it is going to be a steep winding road.
Here you see the North end of Death Valley.
You can also see the South end, but the sun was low and
I could not get a decent photo
So I played a bit with Black and White
And turned around looking back toward Pahrump
Took a lot of photos and it was hard to pick only a few for the blog.
That's a photographer's dilemma!
Got back to Pahrump after dark
delivered Steve and Peggy home
and we got back to walk the dogs.
I stayed up late editing photos
since we are not planning any road trips today.

Had a great time with wonderful people.
So good to reconnect with family on a one on one basis
Fun to all get together when that happens
just more relaxing to spend a day in smaller groups.
Thanks Steve and Peggy for a memorable day!

Ya'll make your day great.
Hugs
Tom and Millie
