OK I'm back, don't give up on me yet.

Hi all
So much fun and so little time.
After we left Abilene State Park we moved to Monahan's Sandhills State Park in Texas.

Nearly the opposite of Abilene, which was a lovely wooded site.
Monahan's is in the sand dunes of the Permian Basin of Texas.
Camping in the sand and no ocean.

Also a big oil area, including the traffic that goes with that.
Two great nights with lots of stars and perfect daytime temps.
Went to the Million Barrel Tank Museum, was sort of open but not open.

Held over 1,000,000 barrels of oil and was only filled to capacity one time.
All concrete and open to the sky.

Could get into the grounds but all the buildings were locked.
So we got fuel and went back to the campground.
Sunrises were also pretty spectacular.

Friday we moved to New Mexico.
Sand drifting on the roads is treated like snow, just push it off to the side.

Brantley Lake State Park north of Carlsbad, NM.

Getting pretty arid in this part of the state so not much for trees.

With the cold fronts coming through the wind blows fast, causing a little trailer rock'n.
Tried a couple of brewery's today and enjoyed the beer.

Visited some antique stores and of course had to stop at Walmart.
Back out to the campsite to relax and visit with neighbors.
Another full day here so we will be leaving Monday.
Going to head up to Cloudcroft and see if I can take 9000 feet elevation again.
Plan to camp there at least one if not two nights, then on to Alamogordo, NM.
A couple more from the sandhills.
